Glenn L. Briggs
Glenn Briggs has focused his practice exclusively on representing employers in employment-related litigation throughout his career. Before forming Hodel Briggs Winter LLP, he was trained in the employment law department of Paul Hastings LLP where he worked for more than eight years. In 2003, after being elected partner in that firm, he left to form Hodel Briggs Winter LLP.

- Representing management in all aspects of employment litigation, including wrongful termination, harassment and employment discrimination lawsuits.
- Defending and responding to state and federal agency charges of discrimination.
- Advising on daily employment law and human resources issues, such as leaves of absences, performance counseling, discipline and terminations, disability accommodations, investigations, drafting employment agreements, policies and handbooks, and wage and hour issues.
- Extensive wage and hour experience. He has defended more than 50 wage and hour class actions, countless individual claims brought in administrative and judicial forums, as well as investigations by state and federal wage and hour agencies. These cases have included allegations that employees were misclassified as exempt from overtime pay requirements, worked hours “off the clock” for which they were not paid, missed meal and rest periods, and experienced improper deductions from their pay. Clients he has represented include national retailers, insurance companies, mortgage lenders, banks, restaurants and a variety of national, regional and local businesses.
- Trial successes in defense of harassment and discrimination lawsuits and wage and hour actions. He also has obtained verdicts of $2,600,000 and $800,000 against labor unions for unlawful strikes.
- Member of the American Employment Law Council.
In the Community
Mr. Briggs is a regular speaker at conferences on employment law. He has been invited to speak at conferences of the Continuing Education of the Bar, the California Labor Letter, the Institute for Applied Management and Law, California Employment Law Council, the Employers Group, the National Human Resources Association and other organizations. He has published articles in the Orange County Register and the Orange County Lawyer. Mr. Briggs is a member of the Los Angeles County and Orange County Bar Associations.
Education
Mr. Briggs graduated from the University of California at Los Angeles where he earned his B.A. degree. He attended Boalt Hall School of Law at the University of California, Berkeley, where he received his J.D. in 1994. Before attending law school, Mr. Briggs was an accountant at Coopers & Lybrand where he handled tax and accounting matters for a variety of clients, including individuals, partnerships and corporations.
