Theresa A. Kading

Theresa Kading represents employers in all aspects of labor and employment law, including discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination, and wage and hour claims, both before government agencies and in state and federal courts. She also advises employers regarding legal and human resources issues that arise on a daily basis.

Professional Highlights

  • Winning a remarkable number of motions for summary judgment. In a recent nine month span of time, she won five of six motions filed.
  • Obtaining a complete defense verdict in a six-week two plaintiff discrimination lawsuit brought against a large entertainment company in Orange County.
  • Litigating and advising employers on complex issues involving reasonable accommodations, disability discrimination and leaves of absences under state and federal laws. She regularly trains and updates the firm’s other lawyers on these issues.
  • Having extensive wage and hour experience, including the defense of more than 20 class actions, as well as individual lawsuits filed in administrative agencies and state and federal courts.
  • Representing national retail, restaurant and banking clients in both litigation and pre-litigation employment matters.

She was formerly an employment law associate with Paul Hastings LLP.

In the Community

Ms. Kading has spoken at seminars for human resources and other organizations, including the Council on Education in Management, the National Human Resources Association, and the Electronics Salary and Wage Association. Ms. Kading serves as Secretary on the Board of Directors of the National Human Resources Association and is a member of the Association of Business Trial Lawyers.

Education

Ms. Kading received her B.A. degree, summa cum laude, in Psychology and Political Science from the University of Southern California in 1997. She graduated Order of the Coif from the University of Southern California Law School in 2000, where she was a staff member of the University of Southern California Law Review.
